HARO floors are pre-finished and easy to live with. A little routine care keeps them looking their best for decades.
Everyday care
- Sweep, dust-mop or vacuum (with a soft brush head) regularly to lift grit before it can scratch.
- Wipe spills promptly with a slightly damp — never wet — cloth.
- Felt pads under furniture legs, and a barrier mat at entrances to catch grit and water.
- Keep indoor humidity around 50–60% so the timber stays stable through the seasons.
What to avoid
- Steam mops and wet-mopping — standing water is timber's enemy.
- All-purpose, abrasive or wax-based cleaners and polishes not made for timber.
- Dragging furniture, stiletto heels and unprotected castor chairs.
The HARO clean & green system
HARO's clean & green range is an ecologically balanced cleaning and care system, awarded the EU Ecolabel (the "Euro Flower"). The products are matched to your surface, and the routine differs by finish:
- Sealed floors — lacquered, naturaDur & permaDur — low-maintenance. Damp-clean with clean & green active for regular care, or clean & green intens to lift stubborn marks such as rubber scuffs and grease.
- Oiled floors — naturaLin plus & oleovera — clean and nourish in one step with clean & green aqua oil, which gently refreshes the oil as it cleans. Applied undiluted in the direction of the grain, the floor can be walked on again after about two hours.
Damp-cleaning dose: about half a dosing-head of cleaner per 5 litres of cold water, applied with a well-wrung flat mop — less water is always better with timber.
Refreshing & repair
Oiled surfaces are wonderfully forgiving — they can be spot-refreshed or re-oiled in place over the years rather than fully sanded back. Lacquered and naturaDur surfaces are hard-wearing and need little more than routine cleaning. For a deeper refresh or a scuff, our team can advise on the right HARO product.
Small habits preserve the floor for years.
Use PTFE or felt furniture glides under moving chairs, a polycarbonate mat beneath office chairs and effective entrance mats to stop grit before it reaches the timber. Maintain an even indoor climate of approximately 20°C and 50–60% relative humidity.
For routine cleaning, a parquet vacuum head or soft dry mop is normally enough. When needed, use a well-wrung flat mop: damp, never wet. Avoid household “hacks”, aggressive cleaners and steam.
