Unique Straw Bale Home, Lake Hāwea

A one-of-a-kind passive straw-bale home at Lake Hāwea, where natural HARO timber complements a deeply sustainable build.

Project story

A considered foundation for the architecture.

An environmentally friendly straw-bale home near Wanaka, where a combination of timber finishes — including HARO Engineered Oak — creates a consistent, calming look. Straw-bale construction to the exterior and many internal walls gives a cosy atmosphere and passive heat retention, for a home with a minimal environmental footprint.

Like every HARO floor, it is built for life — dimensionally stable, compatible with underfloor heating, and backed by a 30-year residential warranty. Naturally beautiful, and made to last.
