Set in an idyllic location with views towards Coronet Peak and the Arrowtown valley, this boldly designed home is complemented by the use of HARO engineered boards on interior walls, ceilings and stairs. The owners of this Millbrook home briefed Hyndman Taylor Architects on their wish to create a contemporary, minimalist and warm residence that used stacked stone, timber and glass – and had plenty of natural light. The architects worked within the guidelines set out in Millbrook Resort’s style guide to fulfil this brief, using local schist and cedar cladding, with sections of precast concrete to achieve that modern look for the exterior. Gable forms orient bedroom views towards Coronet Peak, while Arrowtown can be seen from the living space, and the northern aspect overlooks the action on the golf course.
